Causes of Startup Problems
While starting up, a number of reasons cause the Windows to balk and freeze, and largely they are the following, in decreasing order.
- Malfunctioning hardware
- Corrupt driver
- Corrupt file or volume
- System misconfiguration
- Any electronic infection including virus, Trojan horse, spywares etc.
To a large extent, the answer to the question why do Startup problems happen, will depend on the cause of the problem.
For example, if the error is caused by a virus or some other malware, then that has probably been implanted into your registry by a program that you downloaded, or an infected email that you opened.
However, viruses or malware driven difficulties are the easy ones to explain!
Files that are damaged or corrupted, along with drivers, can be far more difficult to spot. Basically, every time you instigate any form of action on your PC, you are probably generating errors of one form or another.
Even with normal usage, a computer probably houses dozens, if not hundreds of file errors right now. People are not aware of them because the vast majority will not actually cause them any problems. However, progressively each time such an action causes a file or folder to become even slightly damaged or corrupted, you just moved a little closer to the point where the errors do begin to have an adverse effect on the operating system.
It then becomes more obvious that routine daily operations on your PC will eventually kick off variety of errors that become problematical for you. Windows Startup errors are no exception to this rule. They really stand for the tip of the iceberg, appearing above the visible error 'waterline', indicative of a problem whilst keeping 90% of what is really going on well hidden!
